currently coveting california cool….

I still remember seeing designer Minnie Mortimer’s malibu home in Vogue in 2011 and have not been able to get it out of my head since! Dream dining room- masculine meets feminine meets party time. The crush on California continues with a peek into the abode and living with a light, easy style.

And a little compilation of Cali Cool for your bod and abode…

Oooo Amelia Island! We headed south for a long weekend in Florida and it was fabulous. Taking a few days to have zero schedule is a must. It gives a total shift to perspective and refreshes just about everything. Read more about our adventure over on Week Thing!

the tutu project

I just came across this great story of Bob Carey and The Tutu Project on the Today Show this morning. Bob Carey began taking self portraits dressed in nothing but a tutu as an outlet during his wife’s battle breast cancer. The portraits have provided comedic relief for the Careys as well as other patients and now Bob is self publishing a book, Ballerina, which is a compilation of his work. All proceeds will go directly to organizations supporting breast cancer research and care. You can support the Tutu Project by purchasing a print, the book, a tshirt or just by making a donation HERE.

currently coveting…..beach looks

Memorial Day is upon us! A time to pay tribute to the many that have served our country and the official start of summer. I know many of you are heading to to the beach this summer so I thought I’d give you a little beach wear inspiration…for all your moods! My favorite is of course, Zsa Zsa, a look named by architectural genius Thomas Ragsdale.

The original Zsa Zsa look…

Gettin’ my ombre on with a hint of metallic.

Last week I gushed over THESE baskets and decided to create the look at home. I debated whether to go full on silver or not and thought I’d ease in by leaving some natural wicker showing- and it turned out pretty well! So grab some spray paint and a basket and get to sprayin. To create an ombre look, keep the spray bottle close (within 5 inches) to the bottom of the basket’s perimeter. As you go up, pull the spray can away as you spray. Simple huh? To make it really pop, try using a neon spray paint….hot pink anyone?

Happy Tuesday.

dark and stormy….

It’s Monday. And it’s raining. After a fabulous weekend celebrating some cute friends in gorgeous Virginia, it’s back to reality and time to get inspired by what’s in front of me. Today, that’s wet pavement and dark clouds-which lead me to some dark walls…which then lead me right to Miles Redd.

People are often afraid to go dark but it is such a great trick for making small spaces feel bigger and a bit more dressed up. And if you go high gloss or take the time to have the room lacquered, everything goes to the next level!

And for some Monday laughs…..read THIS BLOG. One woman’s journey alongside her husband’s never ending sleep talking adventures. Hilarious.

currently coveting….

Craving cool tones inspired by John Robshaw’s traveled textiles as this gorgeous day heats up! I could throw all of this into a beach house kind of life and be very happy for a long time….

From coveting to casa, a peak into the John Robshaw showroom and their upcoming fall line from Meredith at JR!

How cute is their paper? And those pillows….One thing that makes John Robshaw’s textiles so special is that they are all essentially one of a kind. Block printed and dyed in India to bring a unique, fresh look to your home. Get your JR here!

Covet worthy finds: Blue vase: LSA, Prada Pouch, John Robshaw Chair,  Oasis Sandals (sold out!), Gorjana Star Earrings , Marc Jacobs Bag , Tom Binns Safety Pin Cuffs

if only…

Oohhhh I wish. That’s what I was thinking during my second trip to the airport before 7:15 this morning. First to drop off the man. The second, his cell phone.Oh marriage.

Then I got to work and got majorly inspired by some metallic linens and this image…

Yes. This is happening with a full report to come. I love how the metallic and natural materials keep the baskets from going too cold. These gorgeous silver baskets fit right into this rainy day and got my wheels turning for a little DIY time tomorrow. And I know just where to put them. (For those of you wondering about last week’s DIY fruit roll ups - they were a big burnt fail. Note to self: JUST. FOLLOW. THE. INSTRUCTIONS.)

In keeping with the natural meets metallic theme of the day…a little piece from a ladyfriend who found these horns on her family’s farm and added some serious glitter! Oh. Yes. Think of the possibilities of metallic meets nature! A little paint on some dead branches or birch tree place cards with some glitter? I’m telling you, wheels turning….

Note: no animals were harmed in the making of these! They just found glitter in the afterlife.

take a seat

The wheels are turning for two projects that could both involve some banquette seating. I love sliding into a booth at a restaurant and seem to always stay longer when I do- it makes dining more intimate. Having a banquette dining situation in the home is a fun surprise and way to make part of your home a little more special. It’s also a great trick for an underutilized space - below steps, next to a fireplace, in the kitchen, in the corner of a living room….limitless possibilities, people.

freakin weekend inspiration

Ahhh Friday. I love our weekends in DC and it looks like we’ve got a good one coming up! Cute friends in town tonight and brainstorming for a Boston project tomorrow before the Caps game. Hockey has taken over our lives so I might as well embrace it! I do love game food.

Looking forward to sitting under bistro lights, a little Acqua  a lot of wine (what?) and some home made fruit roll ups- we have to use up all the berries from our latest adventure! Also working on Adger Interiors developments and a fresh new take on Sweet Thing! Details to come later….For now, evening happenings will be inspired by this…

Real recap to come! Enjoy your time wherever you are!
